Janet L. Hays, 72, of Zanesville, died 7:55 p.m. Tuesday (June 18, 2013) at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.
She was born Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1940, in Caldwell, the daughter of the late Walter G. Dimmerling and Edna M. (Noll) Dimmerling. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Janet was a graduate of Good Samaritan School of Nursing Class of 1961 and served as a Registered Nurse with Genesis HCS Bethesda Campus, retiring following over 25 years of service. She was a National Board Certified Physician's Assistant. Janet enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary.
Janet is survived by two daughters, Erin Hays of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Kelly Hays of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Edward Dimmerling of Marietta; two sisters, Sister Marlene Dimmerling, OP of Columbus, Ohio, and Karen Burfield of Delaware, Ohio; and several nieces.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Chuck Burfield.
Per Janet's wishes a direct cremation is to take place and visitation with cremated remains will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday (June 21 2013) at The Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 North Fifth St., with Fr. Stephen Dominic Hayes as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell. Arrangements are being handled by the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave. Zanesville Ohio.
