A $7,000 bond issue was defeated in Williamstown by a vote of 63 to 62. A three-fifths vote was required to pass the issue. Another election asking for a bond of $30,000 will be held in 30 days. The bonds are to pay off old debts, to purchase new firefighting equipment and to build a new fire house.
Mrs. Nettie Johnson drank carbolic acid in a "fit of despondency." She died 30 minutes after drinking the poison.
