Viola May Conter

Viola May Conter, 94, of Marietta, formerly of Flushing, Ohio, died Monday (July 1, 2013) at Heartland Nursing Home in Marietta. She was born April 16, 1919, in Flushing Township, Belmont County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Charles and Lillian Covert.

Mrs. Conter was a member of Harrison Hills United Pentecostal Church near Jewett and also attended the Flushing United Methodist Church. She was a senior companion in the Flushing, Piedmont and Holloway area for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Conter; two daughters, Jo Ellen Conter and Peggy Kohr; an infant daughter, Patricia Ann Conter; a son, Staff Sgt. Charles Conter; a sister, Marquerita Gadomski; and a brother, Harry Covert.

Surviving are two daughters, Jeri (Robert) Smith of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and Michelle (Kenneth) Angle of Lowell, Ohio; a son, Larry Gene (Cheryl) Conter of McDonough, Ga.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Friday from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, Ohio. Her grandson, the Rev. Steven R. Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing, Ohio.
