"Tree-mendous Adventure" for kids
The Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge will hold a "Tree-mendous Adventure" for children ages 6 to 15 at 1 p.m. July 10. The program will include a hike though the forest in addition to activities about forestry, tree aging and leaf identification. A water bottle, bug spray and closed toe shoes are strongly recommended. The free program will be held at the visitor center located at 3982 Waverly Road in Williamstown and is approximately two hours long. This is a family activity and a parent or guardian is required to be present. In the event of bad weather the program will be canceled.

Rabies vaccination clinic July 13
A rabies vaccinations clinic for dogs and cats will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. July 13 at the Washington County Health Department, 342 Muskingum Drive, Marietta. The cost is $7 per animal. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in carriers. All animals must be at least 12 weeks old.

Spice program July 16 at Barlow library
The Barlow Library will host a "Spice" program by Joyce Hammett at 7 p.m. July 16. The program will include samples of spices, a history of the ancient spice trade and an explanation of spices and their health benefits. Sign-up is requested by calling 678-0103.
Patriotic readings Thursday at Post 64
American Legion Post 64, Eighth and Wooster streets, Marietta, will hold a reading of the full text of the Declaration of Independence and the entire United States Constitution, including the Bill of Rights and later amendments, in the newly remodeled downstairs lounge at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The presentation will be made by Bruce Edward Haas, John Spear and Randy Kintz. Each guest will be given a booklet copy and readable full text of the documents to read along and take notes, and take home for review and reference. Light refreshments will be served.
