Cleda Marie Harra

Cleda Marie Harra, 94, of Waterford, passed away on Tuesday (July 2, 2013) at Muskingum Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation in Beverly.

She was born June 1, 1919, in Waterford, daughter of William Stollar and Leora Burchett Stollar.

She is survived by her husband, George M. Harra whom she married Jan. 27, 1941, and recently celebrated their 72nd anniversary. She is also survived by one son, Bill Harra and his wife, Rita, and one daughter, Betty Wheeler and her husband, Nial, all of Waterford; two grandchildren, Debra Kroll and husband, Bill, of Waterford and Melissa Hartline and her husband, Brad, of Marietta; five great-grandchildren, Maggie and Jacob Kroll and Ruth, Caleb and Grady Hartline; five stepgrandchildren, Patricia Anderson (Eric) of Marietta, Dan Suprano (Tammy) of Waverly, W.Va., Christine Suprano of Monroe, N.C., Jennifer Suprano of Reynoldsburg and Michael Suprano of Waterford; nine stepgreat-grandchildren, Emma and Brett Anderson, Kelsey, Zack and Nate Suprano, Travis and Cody Clyne and Tristan and Hayden Suprano; one brother, Clyde Stollar of Marietta; and a sister, Mary Lou Nicely of Proctorville, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Howard and Orville Stollar; and a sister, Clara Miller.

Cleda was a lifelong resident of Waterford and was a 1939 graduate of Waterford High School. Cleda and her late sister-law Doris Harra were the founding members of the Wolf Creek Homemakers Club in 1956, which is one of the few remaining active Homemaker Clubs in Washington County. Cleda was advisor for 4-H for several years.

Cleda became a member of the Waterford Grange #231 over 50 years ago and for many years she was a Junior Grange Advisor. When Cleda's daughter Betty was married, she made her wedding cake and since then has made over 100 wedding cakes for family and friends. One of her favorite hobbies was crocheting and quilting, having made many as gifts. Cleda was a quiet but very generous woman who was devoted to her family. Many a loving dinner was served at her kitchen table and she will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday (July 6, 2013) at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with the Rev. John Harra officiating. Burial will be in the Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday.

In lieu of flowers friends are asked to make memorial contributions to the Beverly Waterford Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 146, Waterford, Ohio, 45786.
