- The Betsey Mills Club has agreed to lease space to Marietta Teen Center Inc., a nonprofit group formed to give teenagers in Washington County and Williamstown a place to go after school.
- A leak was found in the Washington County 100-year time capsule. The entire gasket liner that connects the box's lid is allowing air to seep through. City officials are hoping to make the box air and moisture free to allow the contents to withstand the century the box is supposed to stay in the county treasurer's vault.

- The B&O Railway Company will allow the city to build a foot path on its temporary railroad bridge spanning the Muskingum River. $4 a day will be charged for guards placed at either end of the bridge.
George Wheeler Hinman sent his formal acceptance of the presidency of Marietta College.
