VINCENT - A Vincent man was killed after a farm tractor he was driving rolled over on Hayes Road in Barlow Township on Tuesday, officials said.
The tractor accident occurred at 4:41 p.m. Tuesday and resulted in the death of Arlan P. Ullmann, 49, of 1042 Bell Road, Vincent.
Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks said deputies responded to the initial call in the 300 block of Hayes Road. The Ohio Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into what caused the accident, Mincks said.
Mincks said it appeared Ullmann was transporting hay bales, one in front of the other, on the tractor when a bale slid, causing the tractor to run up on top of another bale and flip over.
According to media reports, the Ohio Highway Patrol said the tractor did not have a cab.
Neighbors made the call to 911.
The end of July is a popular time for area farmers to be finishing their first cut of hay, officials said.
