A Marietta man died Friday as a result of injuries sustained in an two-vehicle accident that occurred near the intersection of Pike Street and Captain D Seeley MIA Drive earlier in the day.
William Beebe, 30, of Arends Ridge Road, was thrown from his Victory motorcycle when it collided with a Ford F-250 being driven by 66-year-old David Spindler, of Pleasant Ridge Road.
Beebe, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital and then life-flighted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Spindler was uninjured in the crash, said Marietta Police Department Captain Jeff Waite.
The accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m.
Spindler had been traveling westbound on Pike Street and was turning left onto Captain D Seeley Drive when the left front corner of his truck struck the motorcycle, throwing Beebe from the bike.
The Marietta Police Department confirmed his death late Friday evening.
The accident marks the second local motorcycle fatality in as many days. Thursday, Brady E. Patterson, 48, of 2370 Olney Road, Stockport, died from injuries he sustained when he was thrown from his motorcycle into a fire hydrant near Market and Meadow Streets in Stockport. Patterson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
