The elections this November are strictly local. We will choose our neighbors for Township Trustees, Boards of Education and City and Village officials. These are the people who make decisions for our everyday lives.
We have three new candidates for Marietta offices, and I want to introduce them to you.
Kathy Downer is the Democratic candidate for Marietta City Council at-Large. She a Registered Nurse, Cancer Care Coordinator with 25 years at Marietta Memorial Hospital, with special training for cancer care, CPR training, mental health and disasters. She has been involved in the Red Cross, PTO, Scouting and the Athletic Boosters. She is grateful for the opportunities of living & working in Marietta, and thinks it is time to repay. She attending Council meetings, and wants to continue their good work. Kathy has the varied experience and multi-tasking ability that is needed for success on City Council. Married, four adult children.
Kevin Paskawych is the Democratic candidate for Marietta City Council President. A grad of Marietta College, Kevin's education emphasized management and Political Science. He worked as warehousing supervisor for Enertia Trail Foods (before they moved to Calif.), where he oversaw raw materials, organizing and executing all shipments. He is an advisory board member of the Pulmonary Hypertension Assn. moderating discussions, creating educational & awareness outreach programs. Kevin has also volunteered for Riverfront Roar and is the Technical Director for MOVP. Kevin is ready to oversee Council as its President. Married, two stepchildren.
Willa O'Neill is the Democratic candidate for Marietta City treasurer. A grad of Ohio University, she taught public school for 6 years, and spent 25 years at ODOT, during which she was trained in workplace efficiency and process improvement, as a mediator, a facilitator. She also served as statewide president of ODOT/OCSEA. Willa's experience has given her management skills both for people and for money, solid preparation for the City Treasurer's office. Two adult daughters and two grandchildren.
These are our new candidates, and we are pleased to introduce them to you. I'm sure you meet them between now to Nov. 5, and will have a chance to get to know them, their qualifications and their commitment to Marietta and the jobs they seek.
Please consider them seriously, and then vote for Kathy Downer, Kevin Paskawych and Willa O'Neill.
