'Tree-mendous Adventure' for kids
The Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge will hold a "Tree-mendous Adventure" for children ages 6-15 at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Visitor Center located at 3982 Waverly Road in Williamstown. The program will include a hike through the forest in addition to activities about forestry, tree aging and leaf identification. Closed toed shoes and bug spray are recommended. The program is free and approximately two hours long. Reserve a spot by calling 304-375-2923, Ext. 115. Parents or guardians are required to be present. In the event of inclement weather, call or check the refuge's Facebook page to find out if the program is canceled.
Rummage sale Sat. at local church
A rummage sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the back parking lot of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 320 Second St., Marietta. There will be household items, furniture, clothing and books and games.

Rally at Waterford
A Meet Your Teacher/Back To School Rally will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at Waterford Elementary School. Students can meet their teachers, go to their homerooms, drop off school supplies and have refreshments in the cafeteria. The rally starts at 6:45 in the Cooper Annex.
Electronics recycling event ends Wed.
The Southeastern Ohio Joint Solid Waste Management District is sponsoring its annual electronics recycling event at the Washington County garage, 1405 Colegate Drive, Marietta, today and Wednesday. Computers, televisions, cell phones, telephones, printers, cable devices and other electronics can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day. Appliances are not accepted at this event.

Breast and cervical cancer screenings and education will be provided by the Ohio University and Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine's Community Health Programs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 21 in the program's mobile van parked at the old M&M school lot in McConnelsville.
