Jack "Buff" Hafer, 68, of Cutler, passed away Aug. 9, 2013, at the Camden Clark Medical Center Memorial Campus following a courageous battle with cancer for the last three years.
"Buff" was born in Parkersburg, May 14, 1945, a son of the late "Web" and "Granny" Hafer. He had proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from Walker Textron after 32 years with the company.
He enjoyed hunting, antique cars and spending time at the Cutler Station with his friends. He was known to many as Papa Jack and enjoyed life.
Surviving "Buff" are his wife of 43 years, Beverly A. Lynch Hafer; two sons, Shane Hafer and Misty, "Pudge" Hafer and Ester, all of Cutler; four grandchildren, Zach, Kyle, Austin, Taten; great-grandson, Trezdyn; sister, Kitty Anthony and Paul of Belpre; brother, Larry "Tuff" Hafer and Janet of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, "Buff" was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur "Speedy" Hafer, James "Lucky" Hafer, and Rick "Lightning" Hafer.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service that will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Decatur Methodist Church Cemetery. Full military rites will be provided by American Legion Post #15.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
