John Francis Schaad, 94, of 3072 E. Olney Run Road, Stockport, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 17, 2013) at the Morrison House in Zanesville.
He was born May 30, 1919, in Washington County, the son of the late John Andrew Schaad and Philomina Strahler Schaad. He was retired from Central Ohio Coal Co. where he was a welder on the Big Muskie. He also was a farmer and a member of the St. James Catholic Church in McConnelsville and a charter member of the Stockport Fire Department.
He is survived by his children, Mary (Donald ) Waite of McConnelsville, Cindy Schaad of Stockport, John P. (Annette) Schaad of Stockport, and Leo P. (Holly) Schaad of Beverly; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Eliose Delaney of Marietta; and a brother, Earl Schaad of Waterford.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Kosky Schaad; one son, Joseph Schaad; brother, Donald Schaad; and sisters, Mildred Offenberger, Mary Margaret Schlicher and Helen (sister Joseph Aloysius) Schaad.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 18, 2013) at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville with a short prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. today (Aug. 19, 2013) at St. James Catholic Church in McConnelsville with Father Paul Walker as celebrant.
