A report shows the contaminant found in the city water well may be centered under a Bantam League baseball diamond north of the Washington County Fairgrounds.
Larry Smith, vice president of marine financing at Central Trust Bank, was the moving force behind Marietta Waterways Weekend. Events will include the Ohio Bass Tournament, the Huck Finn Youth Fishing Tournament, the Ohio Valley Best Band Competition and a water ski show.

Marietta Fire Department issued a citation to Sun Mart Sunoco of Muskingum Drive Wednesday, ordering owners to investigate the suspected release of fuel that is polluting a small creek leading into the Muskingum River.
The fund drive for Artsbridge, a regional cultural development agency, has been awarded a three-year, $60,000 challenge grant by the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation at Pittsburgh. The fund drive has reached 90 percent of its $225,000 goal.

Cassius S. Blakeslee has brought suit in the court of common pleas against Howard E. Scrafford for $113.38 and costs. The suit was based on a note for $126 given the Ohio-Mexico Land Company and endorsed by J.C. Crooks.
Police received a call from the wharf boat, as a fight had broken out between Joe Noll, of Marietta, and Michael Flinn, who is employed on the boat. It is alleged that Noll was intoxicated.
