Earlier this year, the Fairfield Inn & Suites of Marietta, received two of Marriott's honors for the brand. The hotel received the Opening Hotel of the Year Award for 2012. This award is presented annually to the new hotel with the best opening performance in sales, guest satisfaction, staff development and community involvement.
In addition, Michael Koker, general manager of the Fairfield Inn and Suites, Marietta, received the award for Opening General Manager of the Year. This award is presented each year to the general manager who achieves the highest scores in overall satisfaction, associate engagement and revenue.
The hotel is managed by SJB Management Inc., Athens. Jack Bortle, president of SJB Management Inc., said "We are honored to have received these awards and are proud of the entire Fairfield Marietta team. It takes a great deal of commitment and hard work to receive this type of recognition."
John Lapeire, Marriott International, said "This is a truly remarkable accomplishment given the quality and number of other hotels that entered the system during the past year. This is also the second hotel owned and operated by SJB Management to earn this honor. SJB Management opened the award winning Fairfield Inn & Suites, Weirton, W.Va., in 2009. These are the first two hotels SJB opened with Marriott and for them both to be recognized as Opening Hotel of the Year and General Manager of Year is a testament to their organization's commitment to quality, associate engagement and leadership.
