Peter E. Deem, 79, of Belpre, passed away on Tuesday (Aug. 27, 2013) at his residence. He was born in Parkersburg June 4, 1934, to the late Walter and Ann Deem.
He was retired from the military after 21 years and served in Vietnam and Korean War. After the military he retired from the U.S. Postal Services after 19 years. He was a member of the American Legion and D.A.V. He was a member of Central Christian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Doris Deem; daughters, Michelle Rafferty(Jeffery) of Little Hocking, Joyce Wise(Randy) of Cullman, Ala., Teresa Flythe(Kelly) of Savannah, Ga.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pearl Johnson of Grantsville, W.Va.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Dawson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg with Chaplain Mike Allen officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg and one hour prior to the service Saturday. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery North with full military honors.
