Shrimp, beer dinner at Post 64 Friday
American Legion Post 64, on the corner of Wooster and Eighth streets in Marietta will hold a shrimp and beer dinner from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday . The cost is $10. There will be a round and square dance with 4 Hit and A Miss afterward. The cost is $4 per person and there will be a 50/50 drawing. The event is open to the public and held the first Friday of each month.
Monthly free meals at Unitarian church
The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta sponsors a community meal on the second Friday of each month. The next meal is 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13. Other meals this year are Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13. Both meat and vegetarian meals are provided. The church fellowship hall at 232 Third St. is handicapped accessible from a ramp next to the religious education building. All are welcome.

Historical Society picnics Monday
The Washington County Historical Society annual picnic will be held Monday at the VFW picnic shelter on Pike Street. Gathering at 5:30 p.m. to socialize. The meal will begin at 6 p.m. Those attending should bring a covered dish to share. Meats and beverages will be provided. Anyone interested in historic preservation, Washington County family research, WCHS membership or chatting with current members is welcome to attend.

Gospel Sing at
Leavitt's in Belpre
Leavitt Funeral Home, 801 Victor St., Belpre will have its annual Gospel Sing from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Musical groups performing will be Day Spring, Mission Trio, New Legacy and The Williams Family. There will also be an antique car and tractor display, free food and drinks and a tent provided for shade.

Beverly Masonic Lodge soup lunch
The Beverly Masonic Lodge will hold a soup luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday with all-you-can eat soup, sandwiches and dessert. There will be four kinds of soup. Donations will be accepted. Carry-out and delivery is available by calling 984-2826.
