Clarice Eileen (Allen) Bever, 94, of Westerville, Ohio (formerly of Williamstown), passed away on Saturday (Sept. 21, 2013).
Clarice was born Sept. 24, 1918, in Belleville, W.Va., the daughter of the late Ira Edward and Loy T. (Kester) Allen. She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, graduated cum laude from Marietta College where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority, and later earned her master's degree from Ohio University. Clarice spent her life as a dedicated teacher most notably for 25 years at Williamstown High School where she influenced many lives. In addition to teaching, she was a very active member of First United Methodist Church of Williamstown and greatly enjoyed playing bridge, crafting, quilting, knitting, and working outside with her flowers.
She is survived by her two children, Sally Page (Paul) and Edward Bever (Debbie) both of Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren, Stephanie Niemeyer (Eric), Powell, Ohio; Grant Bever (Debby), Bend, Ore.; Nathan Bever, Great Falls, Mont.; Megan Lafferty (Jeff), Westerville, Ohio; Wesley Page (fiance' Kate Walther), Charleston, W.Va., along with six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hilton Bever; and her great-grandson, Maxwell Niemeyer.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 24, 2013) at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Clarice's name be made to the First United Methodist Church, 304 W 5th St., Williamstown, W.Va., 26187.
