I am truly puzzled by Bill Johnson's recent vote to deny food stamps to working families and the elderly in his district. How is it helpful to reduce the dollars flowing through the local economy and remove food security for those now living on the edge of poverty?
I have the privilege of volunteering at a local church serving community meals through the Harvest of Hope project. Many depend on food stamps along with community meals and the food pantry to feed themselves and their families from month to month. The loss of food stamps will be devastating! There is no way local resources can fill the gap for the hungry among us.
Johnson's recent vote to remove food security for the working people he represents proves that he is not working in our benefit. This begs the question, Bill Johnson, who are you working for?
