Majil L. Jenkins, 85, of Zanesville, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday (Oct. 1, 2013) at her home surrounded by loving family.
Majil was born Feb. 3, 1928, in Fleming, Ohio to the late Ohlen August and Gladys Leona (Mayle) Honesty. She was retired from Good Samaritan Hospital where she had worked for 40 years in various capacities the last being the hospital print shop. She loved God and enjoyed many years of teaching adult bible study classes at South Land Mission and most recently at the Hands of Faith Church. Majil enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, but also home-canning and preserving food she had grown for herself and to share with others. All through her busy life she was a loving mother, grand and great-grandmother. She impacted many lives with her caring ways.
She will be sadly missed by two daughters, Beth Jenkins and Margaret Fulton; two grandchildren, Donica Jenkins and Chandra Dutro; two great-grandchildren, Claudia Rupe and John Harney Jr.; brother, Irving 'Jack' Honesty (Gladys); sister, Imogene Striblin; special sister-in-law and friend, Esther Hanson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Claude 'Buck' Jenkins; sister, Venita Waters; brother, Orland Honesty; an infant brother and sister and great-grandson, Anthony Rupe.
Viewing will be Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burrell Funeral Services, 414 LaSalle St., Zanesville. An additional viewing will begin at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at the Hands of Faith Church, 830 Pine St., Zanesville. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the church. Minister, Michael Bullock will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at burrellfuneralservices.com.
