Vaccinations to protect people against influenza strains expected to be prevalent this season are available throughout our area.
In addition to physicians, clinics and hospitals, many pharmacies offer the shots. In many cases, health insurance will cover part or all of the cost.
For those with limited means and no insurance, many health departments offer flu shots at low or, in some cases, no cost.
There is no good reason for those whose health allows them to get vaccinated to refrain from doing so.
There are many excellent reasons to take advantage of the protection.
First, of course, your own health can be safeguarded. That can be particularly important for older people and those with certain conditions. If in doubt, ask your physician.
Second, by keeping those vaccinated from getting the flu, those around them, including children, are protected. If you haven't gotten your flu shot yet, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible.
