Lawmakers shouldn’t be paid during shutdown

October 17, 2013
The Marietta Times

Government shutdown ... Ha! It is really a public facilities shutdown. Veterans earned the right to receive medical care, or look upon a memorial. Sick children need to receive treatment for disease. Our parks should be open, maybe without gatekeepers. However, our politicians are acting like children, and bullies at that. I have different ideas for government shutdown. How about furloughing the Secret Service? How about furloughing the kitchen staff at the White House? Maybe we ground Air Force One? Jet blue would surely get Obama anywhere he needs to go. I would love to see the congressmen and senators trying to find parking on the street, because their parking lot would be closed.
