Richard ‘Byrd’ W. Snider

Richard "Byrd" W. Snider, 86, of Vincent, died at his residence on Oct. 19, 2013.

He was born in Oxford, W.Va., on April 5, 1927, and was the son of the late Harmon W. and Icy Richards Snider. He had worked at Warner Pontiac for 33 years in the auto body department. He had served both in the Navy and the Army.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Juanita Grubb Snider; a daughter, Nancy Snider of Vincent; two sons, Christopher (Chris) Snider (Lee Ann) of Sumter, S.C., Scott Snider (Regina Jarvis) of Vincent; nine grandchildren, Heather, Nathan, Ashley, Shelby, Skylar, Caleb, Ben, Jeffrey, and Tyler; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charles (Gus) Snider, Delmas (Sarge) Snider, and Avery (Abe) Snider.

Services will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home in Belpre with Pastor Tim Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in Barlow Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg.

Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
