Charles Robert Kelly, 54, of Marietta, passed away Thursday (Oct. 24, 2013) at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was a 1977 graduate of Warren High School. He retired with the rank of Sergeant from the U.S. Army after 18 years of service. He worked for Goodyear Tire in Kansas as a Tire Inspector and was also a Blackjack Dealer for Harrah's. After moving back to Marietta, Charles was an active member of the Marietta V.F.W. Post #5108. He held positions as Chaplin and was a Past Commander.
His mother, Betty L. Kelly of Marietta; his father, Robert S. Kelly of Barlow; and grandparents, Charles M. and Pearl R. Oliver of Barlow preceded him in death. He is survived by one brother, Terry L. Wilson (Lori) of Vincent; one sister, Martha A. Kelly of Marietta; long time family friend, Deborah S. Baker of Marietta; one nephew, Trent D. Wilson of Dayton; and one niece, Suzanne R. Crawford of Springfield, Ohio; as well as three great-nieces. Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., with a service and full military rites immediately following the visitation on Monday at 8 p.m. A private family graveside ceremony will be conducted at a later date.
