Hilda Kathleen Stead

Hilda Kathleen Stead, 84, of Williamstown, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 30, 2013) at Selby General Hospital. She was born Sunday, April 21, 1929, in Fall Mills, W.Va., to the late Raymond and Tessie (Smith) Wells.

Hilda retired from Fenton Art Glass after 23 years of service. She was a 50 plus year member of the First United Methodist Church in Williamstown and was active in the Mary Martha Circle. She was also a member of the Williamstown Womens Club and enjoyed singing with the Mussettes. Hilda's greatest joy was her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Hilda is survived by two sons, Patrick A. Stead, Jay H. Stead, both of Williamstown; a daughter, Sherry Castin (Mike) of Fairborn, Ohio; two granddaughters, Lori Schumann (Jeff) of Yellow Springs, Ohio, Michelle Castin of Fairborn, Ohio; two grandsons, Matt Stead (Whitney) of Huntington, W.Va., Ryan Stead (Janelle) of Vienna, W.Va.; six great-grandchildren, Emma Schumann, Jackson Schumann, Sarah Riley, Jocelyn Stead, Lucy Stead and Lennon Stead; brother, George R. Wells (Carolyn) of Williamstown; four nephews, Mike Wells (Helen), Randy Wells (Kim), Terry Stead (Cheryl) and Mike Stead; and a niece, Joanna Wells also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Howard Stead (11/28/1998).

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday (Nov. 4, 2013) at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, Ohio, 45750, with Pastor Steve Gedon officiating. Burial to follow in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday (Nov. 3) at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Debbie Coger for her special care given to our mother.
