Victor C. Bonar, 86, of Conesville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 30, 2013) at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio. He was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Harrietsville, Ohio, a son of the late Clarence and Mattie Bonar.
Victor enjoyed hunting and in his early years, could often be found riding horses. He served and protected his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Aurelius Lodge 308 F & AM in Macksburg and the American Legion Post 750 in Lowell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jason D. Bonar and Sherri Lea Archer.
He is survived by his family, wife JoAnn Johnson Bonar of the home, whom he married Oct. 16, 1948; daughter, Brenda (Junior) Woodard of Pleasant City; two sons, Rick Bonar of Cumberland and Randy (Trudye) Bonar of Roseville; nine grandchildren, Nancy Crum, Tanya Hitchens, David Bonar, Jeremy Bonar, Courtney Watson, Joey Bonar, Logan Bonar, Danny Bonar and Robbie Bonar; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eleanor Pangle of Byesville, Lois Corbitt of Ravenna and Bertha King of Caldwell; one brother, Carl Bonar of Marietta. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday (Nov. 2, 2013) from 11 a.m. until the service time at 1 p.m. at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West St., Caldwell, Ohio, 43724. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Pickenpaugh officiating. A masonic service will begin the funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Olive Cemetery in Caldwell.
