As each day passes, I see more problems being created by the Obama Administration and their bumbling efforts regarding health care.
Millions have lost their health insurance as a result of the Affordable Health Care Act (Obamacare). The president has come out and decided that he will reverse this problem by allowing people to keep their plans they had. That is wonderful, but short sighted. Because of this new situation, Obamacare will be in worse financial shape than it was before. The increases in cost would have been somewhat covered by those forced to buy more expensive plans. Without this component the deficit and our national debt will skyrocket. Insurance companies are not just going to eat the extra cost; they operate to make a profit. This means that the government is going to be on the hook to cover the difference. We cannot afford this.
The Obama Administration, as well as the Democrats, own this entire mess. This is what we were told in their own words:
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL): "This bill before us on the Senate floor makes it clear that if you have an insurance policy that you like, you can keep it. If you like the doctor that you're currently doing business with, you can continue to use that doctor." (Sen. Durbin, Teleconference, Dec. 4, 2009).
Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV): "In fact, one of our core principles is that if you like the health care you have, you can keep it." (Sen. Reid, Congressional Record, S.8642, Aug. 8, 2009).
Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT): "That is why one of the central promises of health care reform has been and is: If you like what you have, you can keep it. That is critically important. If a person has a plan, and he or she likes it, he or she can keep it." (Sen. Baucus, Congressional Record, S.7676, Sept. 29, 2010).
There are many more Democrats that told the American people the same thing, including Hillary Clinton. They have effectively taken a problematic system and made it much worse while actually increasing costs. This latest "fix" will do nothing but make the entire mess even worse. I would think that it will make insurance companies financially unstable.
