Enrollment for the fall semester at Ohio Valley College has increased to 208 full-time students, compared to 199 in the fall of 1987. Students come from 10 states and four foreign countries.

State inspectors found violations of building regulations in the county-owned Hildreth Building at 213 Putnam St. and have given commissioners 90 days to fix them. Windows must be repaired, structural elements on the first and second floors must be stabilized, and the girder supporting the roof must be replaced. The building, which houses the county school offices and the department of welfare, may be razed.
100 Years ago,
An oil tank belonging to William Campbell, which had floated down the Ohio River, was towed into the Fourth Street landing and sold by the person who caught it to James Immel. A replevin suit was brought into court, and the tank was turned over the Mr. Campbell, the owner.
