Christmas open house at museum
The Christmas Open House at the Henry Fearing House Museum, 131 Gilman Ave., Marietta, will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday. The O'Neill Center Senior Singers will sing carols and there will be light refreshments as well as decorations.
HSOV fundraiser through this month
The fifth annual They Light Up Our Lives fundraiser for the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley will run through December. Animal lovers may honor or remember a pet by buying a light for $5 for the Christmas tree located at American Flags and Poles on Front Street in Marietta. A living pet will be represented by a colored light; a pet that has passed away by a white light. This year an anonymous donor will match the amount collected.
WSCC?board of trustees meet today
The Washington State Community College board of trustees will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. today in room 103/105 the CB&T Building to discuss a capital project.
The trustees will hold their monthly meeting at 4 p.m. Monday in the Community Room of the main building.
Water department hours adjusted
The City of Marietta Water Department will be operating under adjusted hours this week due to training. The water office will be open to the public during the following hours: today from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon, Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon and Friday from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
Newport Hometown Christmas Thursday
Newport Hometown Christmas will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, with several stops. The stops will be numbered and marked with a sign. Sign up at each stop for a chance to win a free prize in a drawing. The winners of the drawing will be announced at 8 p.m. at the Newport Volunteer Fire Department Community Building. There will also be free food and beverages, Santa Claus, live entertainment, a cookie baking contest and a house decorating contest.

Library program on holiday traditions
Children ages 3 to 6 are invited to come to the Washington County Public Library at 10:30 a.m. Saturday to learn about holiday traditions from other cultures. Registration is required, by stopping by the Youth Services department or calling 373-1057, Ext. 219.
