Muriel Maxine Porter Drayer

Muriel Maxine Porter Drayer, 90, of Beverly, Ohio passed away Tuesday (Dec. 10, 2013) at Muskingum Valley Nursing and Rehab in Beverly, Ohio. She was born July 28, 1923 outside of Marietta, to Glen and Elsie Fish Porter.

Muriel and her late husband, Ronald Drayer, lived on a farm outside of Waterford, Ohio where they raised their family. Later they moved to a farm at Dale, Ohio and then finally to a home in Beverly.

Muriel was a charter member of the Waterford Homemakers Club. Over the years she was a 4-H leader, Assistant Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Eagles, Muskingum Valley Twirlers Square Dance Club and Beverly Red Hats. Ronald and Muriel spent many retired years traveling around the country in their RV. She once said she has visited every U.S. state except Hawaii. Muriel loved the large family dinners, her daily walks, bingo and music.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Drayer; son, Edward Drayer; daughter, Linda Lou Beckett Bieber; and a granddaughter, Drema Drayer. Also, brothers, Ernest Porter and Kenneth Porter. She is survived by her children, Glenda (Sheldon) Taylor of Beverly, Ron (Eileen) Drayer of Waterford, John(Sheila) Drayer of Waterford, Velma (Wayne) Smith of Pflugerville, Texas, Bonnie Strode of Beverly and Thomas Drayer of Beverly. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Rev. James Porter officiating. Burial will be in Waterford Cemetery.
