Spaghetti dinner, dance benefit
A spaghetti dinner and square dance fundraiser to benefit the St. John Central Grade School will be held at the Knights of Columbus hall in Churchtown Jan. 18. The dinner will be from 6 to 7 p.m. with the square dance from 7 to 10 p.m. There will be drawings to win cash, including a grand prize of $2,500, beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25. Children 12 and under are free with an adult ticket purchase. Student admission for those ages 13 to 18 is $5 at the door. To purchase a ticket for the event, call 896-2697.
Village of Beverly meetings set
The Village of Beverly committee meetings for January will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 8. The regular council meeting will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 15. The Board of Public Affairs will meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 22. All meetings will be at the village office, 919 Mitchell Ave.
Marietta Twp. trustees to meet
The Marietta Township Trustees will hold their year-end meeting at noon Monday and their organizational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 8. All meetings are held at the Marietta Township Recreation Center, 260 Sandhill Road, Reno.
The Marietta Fire Department will be holding an entrance exam on Jan. 18. The deadline for applications is Jan. 10. Applications can be picked up and turned in at the mayor's office, 301 Putnam St. Physical agility information can be found at www.mariettaoh.net under the fire department tab.

Free screening and education for cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes will be available to the community from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at Rinky Dink Flea Market, 404 Fort Harmar Drive, Marietta.
Total cholesterol and glucose can be non-fasting tests. Lipid panel (cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL & LDL) require fasting for nine to 12 hours. There is no charge for the screenings. Screenings and health information will be provided by the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine's Community Health Programs. Registration is not required.
