Lorena F. "Toots" Engle, 78, of Coal Run, died Friday (Jan. 3, 2014) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 15, 1935, in Coal Run, Ohio, daughter of Charles Frank and Nellie I. Wallace Roe. She had been the Postmaster of the Coal Run Post Office for many years and had also been a cook at the Ohio Power Company Cafeteria for several years. She graduated from Beverly High School where she was a cheerleader. She was a member of the Coal Run Church of Christ, Life member of the Lowell Legion Auxiliary Post# 750, Life member of the VFW Auxiliary #5108 at Marietta, the Beverly Eagles Auxiliary #3665 and the Lowell Buell Lodge of Pythian sisters. She loved to shop especially at yard sales and garage sales. She and her husband Frank loved to travel and they made many trips to Myrtle Beach over the years. She also enjoyed hunting for golf balls at the local golf courses. She was an avid supporter of her grandchildren's sporting events, especially Fort Frye and American Legion Baseball.
She was married May 19, 1953 to Frank Engle who survives. She is also survived by two daughters, Karen Lang and husband Terry of Watertown and Theresa Skinner and friend John Morris of Marietta; a son, Todd Engle and wife Brenda of Beverly; Grandchildren, Tisha Skinner, Thad Skinner (Ashley), Amanda Walters (Nate), Casey Lang (Crystal), Tina Hickman (Lance), Haley Lang and fiance Scottie Tebay, Tyler Engle (Stephanie), Trey Engle and Tate Engle; great grandchildren, Cooper and Paisley Skinner, Haven and Mya Walters and Reese, Maycee and Brenlee Lang; Her sister and best friend, Nancy Henry and husband Neil of Waterford; brother, William "Bill" Roe and wife Iris of McConnelsville; sister-in-law, Norma Roe of Waterford; Special nephews, Ralphie Barton and Richard Henry and special niece Karen Anderson; special aunt , Lucy Barton; several other wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Wayne Roe and a daughter Mary Ann Engle.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 8, 2014) at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Evangelists Ronald Laughery and Rich Lemal officiating. Burial will be in the Beverly Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. A Pythian Sisters service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
