A Marietta man accused of assaulting a Marietta College student Jan. 14 was charged Friday in the incident.
Robert Jonathan Huffman, 32, of 797 Channel Lane, was charged with criminal trespassing, assault and sexual imposition, according to Tom Perry, executive director for strategic communications and marketing for Marietta College.
Huffman had reportedly approached a female college student on the sidewalk near Putnam Street, assaulted her and retreated on foot.
Marietta College Campus Police filed the charges.
Huffman had been in custody since Jan. 16, after being taken to the Washington County Jail by the Washington County Adult Parole Authority on a parole violation holder. He is a registered sex offender, on parole for a third-degree felony count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. He completed his prison term in November.
Marietta College officials said at that time that Huffman was a suspect in the assault case.
