Sherry Ann Selmon, 72, of Marietta, formerly of New Matamoras, widow of Robert L. Selmon, passed away at home, Thursday (Jan. 30, 2014) after a short battle with cancer. Born on Nov. 18, 1941, in Charleston, Mo., she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Vera Alexander Laird. She was a member of Sixth Street Church of Christ in Marietta. Sherry loved her daughter and family, to crochet, and to work on the computer.
She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Ann "Bobbi" Selmon; one grandson, David A. Fitzgerald II; two great-granddaughters, Paige E. and Kira E. Fitzgerald; three brothers, Jack (Peggy) Laird, Valpraso, Ill., Bill (Emma) Laird, Lady Lake, Fla., and Joe (Karen) Laird, Chuluota, Fla.; and numerous nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Clayton Jr., and one sister, Laura Grissom. The daughter wishes to express her appreciation to Strecker Cancer Center, Dr. Siva, Dr. Hershey, and Ameritus Hospice for the care her mother received.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at the Sixth Street Church of Christ with Roger Rush officiating. Visiting will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church. An online guest register is available at www.ingramfh.com.
