Edmund L. Dutton, 73, passed away on Jan. 24, 2014 in his home in Sebring, Florida.
Ed was born in Marietta on Jan. 23, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army as a pharmacy specialist with the 47th Field Hospital from 1963 to 1965. Ed retired in 1999 from Forma Scientific, where he worked as senior engineer in the research and development department and held several patents. He was a fan of science fiction, mystery, and historical novels. He also enjoyed playing chess and trivia. He will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor and open-minded persona.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol; daughter, Vandy Dutton Colman and her husband, Phillip; and three grandchildren, Curtis, Ayla and Hannah of Florida. He is also survived by his sister, Charla Devine of Hebron, Ohio; and sister-in-laws, Joanna Pickrell and Jean Meyers; and by several nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Irene DesChaine; sister, Mary Saboley; and granddaughter, Lyra Colman.
Per Ed's wishes, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for any donations to be sent to Good Shepherd's Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, Florida, 33870.
