Richard L. Bowman, 88, of Chesterhill, Ohio, passed away at 9:05 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 12, 2014) at the Emeritus Senior Living Center in Marietta. He was born on Dec. 1, 1925, in Chesterhill, the son of the late Earl and Mable Edgerton Bowman.
He was a graduate of Marion High School in Chesterhill and was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for Price Inland Terminal in Porterfield, Ohio as a Stevedore, was a member of the Chesterhill United Methodist Church, a Church Trustee, a volunteer at the Food Pantry in Malta, Ohio and a member of several bowling leagues in McConnelsville.
Dick is survived by one son, Bruce Bowman and wife, Midge of Waterford; two daughters, Christy Nicholas and friend Tony Lang of Marietta, and Pam Lockwood and husband Ed of Grove City, Ohio; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Gene Bowman and wife Madolyn of McConnelsville; one sister, Carolyn Craig of Frazeysburg; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death, other than his parents, were his wife, Jane Carter Bowman; two sons, Cary and Ed; one brother, Fred; and one sister, Martha Dugan.
Services will be held at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Phillip Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Chesterhill Cemetery.
