Joann D. Murray, 79, of Marietta, passed away Friday (Feb. 21, 2014) at her residence.
She was born Thursday, March 8, 1934, in Marietta, to the late Howard and Gladys Matheny McKnight. Joann graduated from Marietta High School in 1952. She worked for Broughton's, Rink's, Hart's and retired from Big Bear Plus. Joann was a member of the V.F.W. Post #5108 Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed being involved at the O'Neill Center.
She is survived by daughters, Angela McAfee (Dwayne), Kathy Lucas (Chuck); sons, Brian Murray and David Murray (Belinda); stepchildren, Karen Best (Dick) and Paul Murray; grandchildren, Codey and Kyle Lucas, Vanessa and Jennifer Murray, and Derek McAfee; stepgrandchildren, Rebecca Rowland (Doug), Melissa Schaad (Rick), Shane Murray and Stephanie McAfee; along with five stepgreat-granddaughters and two stepgreat-grandsons; sister, Katie Wishart (Dave); and a brother, Ralph McKnight (Lois).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wesley Murray (Feb. 16, 2005); a son, Timothy Paul Murray; sisters, Doris Duffy, Helen Covey, Juanita Bower and Wilma Noland.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., with Pastor Kevin Rowland officiating. Burial to follow in Barker Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
