Robert C. Rogers, 83, of Parkersburg, passed away (Feb. 23 , 2014) following a short illness.
He was born Aug. 27, 1930 in Parkersburg, the son of the late Robert C. Rogers, Sr. and C. Juanita Stehly. Bob graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1948 and began a machinist trade at Acme Fishing Tool. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954 aboard the U.S.S. Massey and U.S.S. Willard Keith. Upon discharge, he had the rank of machinist mate first class. He retired from Amaco (formerly Union Carbide Plastics) after 33 years as a machinist.
Bob was active with local Boy Scout troops, serving as a unit commissioner, and the Deerwalk Veteran's Association. He was a member of the North End Church of Christ, having served as a deacon and on the board of directors for the kindergarten program.
He is survived by his daughter, Terri Milligan and her husband, Joe, of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Eric Milligan of Streetsboro, Ohio and Staci Milligan of Nashville, Tenn.; and a sister, JoAnn Kyle, Parkersburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Doris R. Rogers (2012); son, Michael (2013); and stepfather, Clarence S. Stehly.
Services will be held Saturday (March 1, 2014) 1 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday (Feb. 28, 2014) from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
