Betty L. Ward, 79, of Lowell, Ohio, died Tuesday (Feb. 25, 2014) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 20, 1934, daughter of Victor D. and Grace McKitrick Wagner. She had worked at the Save-More supermarket in Beverly for many years. She graduated from Beverly High School in 1952. She attended the Coal Run Church of Christ and was a member of the American Legion Post #750 Auxiliary at Lowell. She loved to square dance and round dance which she did for over 30 years. She enjoyed her large doll collection and also enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She especially loved her family.
She was married July 23, 1953, to Clarence "Chinck" Ward who survives. Also surviving are two children, Pamela Brooks of Coal Run and Randy Ward and wife, Paulette, of Glouster, Ohio; grandchildren, Corey Brooks (Amanda), Randy Ward Jr., Justin Ward and Briauna Ward; stepchildren, Chris Parker (Tasha), Joshua Parker (Shireen); great-grandchildren, Cade, Landon, Mariah and Cayden; stepgreat-grandchildren, Madison, Chelsea, Lily, Amelia and Riley; sister, Joyce Shriver of Coal Run; two brothers, Victor Eugene Wagner and wife, Liz, of Coal Run and Roger Allen Wagner and wife, Doris, of Beverly; sister in-law, Marilyn Dailey and husband, Ralph, of Mount Gilead, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother-in-law, Walt Shriver.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Evangelist Rich Lemal officiating. Burial will be in the Beverly Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday. There will be meal and gathering after the service at the Coal Run Church of Christ in Coal Run.
