Earnest L. Barnhart, 85, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday (Feb. 28, 2014) at Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville, Ohio. He was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Morgan County, Ohio, son of Clarence "Jack" Barnhart and Ollie Silvus Barnhart Garvin.
He was a lifelong farmer and retired from Cleveland Graphite in Caldwell after 40 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Church.
He was married Sept. 21, 1952, to Alice Garvin Barnhart who survives. Also surviving is a son, James Barnhart and wife Mary; three grandchildren, Lori Triplett (Franklin), James Barnhart Jr. and Carolyn Bailey (Titus) all of Caldwell; three great-grandsons, Matthew and Jeremy Tullius and Colton Barnhart; a sister, Ina Phillis of Beverly; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joe and Bob Barnhart and a sister, Ruth Hutchins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Pastor Adam Copeland officiating.
