Rickie William Stevens

Rickie William Stevens, 60, of Devola, Ohio and formerly of Rockport, Texas, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday (Feb. 27, 2014) at Marietta Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born Monday, Nov. 29, 1953, in Marietta to Olin William and Betty Lou (Merrow) Stevens.

Rick attended Marietta High School before relocating to Austin, Texas where he worked for the Austin City School District. After retirement, Rick was able to live out his dream on the coast of Rockport, Texas. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1823.

He is survived by his mother, Betty; two sisters, Sandy Hupp (Gary Carna), Shelley Stottsberry (Jeff); three brothers, Dan (Tammy) Stevens, Tony Stevens, Kevin Stevens, all of Marietta; a special friend, Becky Saldana; one uncle, Dean A. Merrow of Marietta, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael.

Services will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Hadley Funeral Home Marietta Chapel, 500 Fifth St., Marietta with Bob Sinnett officiating. Following the service, Moose Lodge #1823 will conduct a brief service. Visitation will be held from on Monday, March 3 from 2 p.m. until the time of service. A private burial will be held by the family at a later date.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Kelli Cawley, the staff at Strecker Cancer Center and to Hospice.
