Mildred Francis, 92, of Lowell, passed away at 4:55 p.m. on Saturday (March 1, 2014) at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born on Oct. 12, 1921, in Marietta, a daughter of Howard and Goldie Wright. She had worked at New Mecca Cafe before staying home to raise her family. She attended the Salvation Army Church. She was a good cook who baked the best bread and biscuits.
On May 18, 1940, she married Harry H. Francis Sr., who passed away on Nov. 25, 2004.
Mildred is survived by five sons and three daughters, Paul (Linda) Francis of Hayesville, KA, Daniel (Sandra) Francis, Harry (Mary) Francis Jr., Sam (Ruth) Francis and George (Helen) Francis, all of Marietta, Sharon (Lawrence) Tiller and Brenda (Mark) Robinson, both of Lowell, and Connie (Kenny) Sparks of Florida; 42 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters; three brothers; children, Gary, Steven and Donald; and several grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday (Mar. 7) at 10:30am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Page officiating. Visitation will begin on Thursday at 2 with family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery.
