- Thawing temperatures helped the Washington Electric Cooperative in restoration of electricity to about 1,000 rural homes that have been without power since an ice storm four days ago. About 800 local families still have no electricity, even as workers struggle to re-string lines and re-lay poles.

- Rising flood waters have cut off all major highways serving the Marietta area, and the River Forecast Center in Cincinnati is predicting the Ohio River to crest here at 46 feet. Evacuation of furniture and families from low-lying areas is being handled by the Red Cross.

- An election on the proposed bond issue of $70,000 for concrete roads in the Williams district is being held at Williamstown. Practically the entire population of Williamstown is in favor of it, but residents of the country districts are said to be less enthusiastic.
