Tuesday, April 15, is the deadline for filing and paying 2013 Marietta City Income Tax returns and 2014 Declarations of Estimated Tax with first quarter payment.
The current tax rate of 1.7 percent on all earned income applies to all individuals 18 years of age who live and/or work in the city of Marietta and all businesses located or doing business in the city of Marietta need to file on their net profits.
Individuals who work for businesses in the city of Marietta that withhold city tax from their wages do not need to file unless one has another source of income or has an active account with our department from a previous year.
Extensions for filing will be honored if received by April 15 with a copy of the Internal Revenue Service extension.
First quarter 2014 employers' return of tax withheld and 2013 employer's reconciliation with copies of W2's are due April 30, 2014.
Any tax liability remaining unpaid after it becomes due will be subject to penalty and interest.

No one likes to pay taxes, but Marietta's income tax is essential to our basic services such as police, fire and streets maintenance.
