James Oled ‘Olan’ Hill

James Oled "Olan" Hill, 85, of Chesterhill, died on Monday (March 17, 2014) at Riverside Landing Nursing Home in McConnelsville.

He was born on Nov. 16, 1928, in Chesterhill, to the late Jimmy and Etta "Minnie" Mayle Hill. He worked as a truck driver for Merchants Five Star in Marietta and worked on the farm. He attended the Church of God.

He is survived by three sons, Lee Hill of Malta, Eric Hill of Chesterhill and Calvin Hill of Heath; three daughters, LaDyne Mayle of Columbus, Kay Hatzer of Worthington and Sue Hill of Chesterhill; one sister, Mary Mayle of Chesterhill; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita June Hill; six brothers, Ezra, Harley, Holbert, Lew, Harold and Calvin; three sisters, Elsie, Clara and Alma.

Services will be held on Friday (March 21, 2014) at 11 a.m. at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with Pastor Charles Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hermon Cemetery near Amesville. Friends may call on the family on Thursday (March 20, 2014) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
