Joseph G. Reynolds, 65, of Belpre, Ohio died Wednesday (March 19, 2014) at CCMC Memorial Campus. He was born in Deucher, Ohio a son of the late Bernard O. and Margaret (Felter) Reynolds.
He graduated from Newport High School in 1967. He worked in the circulation department at Marietta Times, Central Office Supply in Marietta, and formed and owned Frontier Typewriter Service (servicing Washington County Schools). He graduated first in his class from police training at Hocking Tech College and was an agent for Professional Law Enforcement in Dayton, Ohio. He was a Deputy Sheriff for Washington County and retired after 10 years of service from New Matamoras Police Department.
He is survived by his wife, who he spent 23 years with, Lorraine (Smith) Reynolds; son, Christopher Chevalier of Belpre, Ohio; daughter Ashley Chevalier McCoy (Bud) of Marietta; two grandchildren, Drake and Savannah McCoy; two brothers, Bernard G. Reynolds of Williamstown and Roger W. Reynolds (Rhonna) of Clemmons, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews including Levi Mugrage who was like a son to him.
Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Dorthy Kratche officiating. Burial will be at Newport Cemetery. Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service.
