Vila A. ‘Bud’ Duvuvuei

Vila A. "Bud" Duvuvuei, 87, of Fredericktown, Ohio, formerly of Belpre, Ohio, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Monessen, Pa., a son of the late Vila A. and Phoebe Marie (Scanlon) Duvuvuei.

Bud retired after nineteen and a half years from GE. Plastics and also owned Bud's Barber Shop in Parkersburg. He was a United States Navy veteran having served in World War II. Bud was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Parkersburg and was active in jail/prison ministry for approximately 30 years. Bud traveled with the Church of Nazarene West Virginia North Work and Witness Team to Hawaii, Bolivia, Gutamaula, Alaska, Peru, Papau New Guinea, and Arizona. Bud enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of almost 54 years Florence (Williams) Duvuvuei; two daughters LaVern Secrest (David) of Mt. Vernon, Ohio and Rose M. Duvuvuei of Delaware, Ohio; a son Val D. Duvuvuei (Jennifer) of Gahanna, Ohio; five grandchildren Moriah, Renae, and Jillian Secrest and Nathaniel (Maria) and Orrin (Erin) Duvuvuei; two step granddaughters Megan Wietrzykowski and Kristin Puckett; a sister Betty Buchannon of Cleveland, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Bud was preceded in death by his sister Lois McNab.

Services will be Thursday 11 a.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Reverends Keith Hostutler and Dennis Waymire officiating. Burial will be at Rockland Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
