Laura 'Laurie' Higgins Clark

Laura "Laurie" Higgins Clark, 79, of Little Hocking, passed away Friday (March 28, 2013) at Muskingum Valley Nursing Home in Beverly. Laurie was born on Dec. 18, 1934, in Petroleum, West Virginia, the daughter of John and Victoria Higgins.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia and Alice, and her young granddaughter Samantha.

Laurie was mother to Michael Clark, Debra Perry, Kimberly Parsons, Steven Clark and Gregory Clark. Laurie had seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Laurie is also survived by her sister, Frances (Pat) Lane; and her brother, Ralph Higgins.

After raising her children, Laurie became a Licensed Practical Nurse, retiring from Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. In retirement she became a Master Gardener and a member of the Koi Club. She was known for her gingerbread house on the Ohio River with the beautiful flower gardens.

Visitation will be at Leavitt Funeral Home, in Belpre, Ohio, today (March 31) from 1 to 3 p.m. with services to follow at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in the Rockland Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank all wonderful caregivers at the Muskingum Valley Nursing Home.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers in memory of Laurie Clark to The Alzheimer's Association West Virginia Chapter, 1218 Market St., Parkersburg.
