Volunteers invited to cemeteries work day
Volunteers are invited Saturday to assist Marietta Cemeteries Coming Alive and Marietta College students working to repair a century-old brick wall at historic Oak Grove Cemetery.
The project is part of Community Service Day. Volunteers are meeting at 9 a.m. at the Eighth and Washington Street cemetery entrance for job assignments. Besides rebuilding portions of the wall, others will be repairing a family burial site for a 98-year-old Marietta resident.
Volunteers need to wear heavy shoes or boots, gloves and carry a water bottle. Tools will be provided on site. Groups of three or more are encouraged to call or email in advance for planning purposes.

Spring jazz concert April 15 at MC
The Edward E. MacTaggart Department of Music will hold its Spring Jazz Concert at 7:30 p.m. April 15 in Friederich Theatre in the Hermann Fine Arts Center on the Marietta College campus.
The Spring Concert is titled "Rockin' in Rhythm." The Marietta College Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Professor Marshall C. Kimball, and FloodStage, under the direction of Dr. Daniel Monek, will be performing. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
Free community meal at Tunnel
A free community meal of baked chicken or barbecued wings will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. April 10 at Tunnel United Methodist Church, at Ohio 550 and Coffman Road. For delivery within a 5-mile radius, please leave a message at 374-5634.
Dumpsters available in Decatur Twp.
Decatur Township will have dumpsters available for residents at the township building on Welch Road from noon to 8 p.m. April 10 and 11 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 12. Items from remodelers and contractors are not permitted, and neither are tires. Appliances (without freon) and mattresses will be accepted.
Little Muskingum VFD serves dinner
The Little Muskingum Volunteer Fire Department and will hold a chicken dinner beginning at noon Sunday at the department, 15015 State Route 26.
