More notice needed when closing parts of Gilman

April 7, 2014
The Marietta Times

While I realize that the closing of streets is often necessary for safety reasons, I think an incident this past weekend points out the need for better planning. On Sunday morning, March 23, parts of Gilman Street were closed for crew races. A notice in the weekend Marietta Times would have been helpful. Most of all a road closed ahead sign is needed at Gilman and Walnut streets (upper bridge ramp). This would alleviate the many illegal U-turns and left-hand turns motorists were forced to make when they encountered the road closed at Stone Street (lower ramp).
