A Williamstown man who passed out in Wal-Mart and then became violent with the responding squad personnel Thursday evening was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of assault.
Jonathan Ross McAllister, 26, of 140 Washington Square, reportedly passed out while seated with his girlfriend at the McDonalds inside the shopping chain, said Marietta Police Capt. Jeff Waite.
"(He) fell over on the floor and banged his head. He was bleeding and unconscious," said Waite.
Pat Molden and Matt Hively of the Marietta City Fire Department responded and began attending to McAllister. As McAllister began to come to, he immediately became angry and combative, said Waite.
"He absolutely went violent, punching Molden several times, and Hively tried to contain him and he scratched Hively pretty good on the arms," said Waite.
McAllister was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital. It is still uncertain what had made him pass out, said Waite.
Both first responders were also taken to the hospital to be checked. They were treated and released, he said.
McAllister was arrested upon his release from the hospital Friday afternoon. He was charged with two fourth-degree felony counts of assault of fire personnel.
Each charge carries a maximum 18-month prison sentence.
